Plan the floor from the surface to the finishing edge

Whether you are replacing damaged tiles, renewing a worn floor or finishing a room with baseboards, the material and preparation matter. MintHome's Vancouver floor services cover surface care, flooring and tile installation, replacement and skirting boards.

A quote request is not a confirmed booking.

Keep, restore or replace the existing floor

Begin with the floor you have and the result you want. Surface polishing or waxing, where suitable for the finish, is different work from removing old flooring and installing new material.

  • Floor polishing and waxing.
  • Floor replacement, including removal of the old flooring.
  • Floor installation.
  • Tile replacement and installation.

Tile work and baseboards

The tile installation list covers bathrooms, kitchens, hallways and balconies. Damaged or old tiles can be assessed for replacement. Skirting board replacement and installation complete the edges of a floor.

  • Identify the rooms and approximate area.
  • Keep spare tiles or a flooring sample if available.
  • Note damaged, loose or missing baseboards.
  • Discuss whether the work covers one section or the whole room.

Measurement and preparation

We measure and check the existing floor, then discuss materials and preparation before fitting. Your quote should explain each step, including finishing.

  • On-site measurement and condition assessment.
  • Recommendations for flooring, tile and skirting materials.
  • Removal of old materials.
  • Surface levelling and preparation.
  • Installation, gap sealing and finishing.

Arrange the project around the property

For a Vancouver strata property, check building requirements for flooring changes, material deliveries and working hours.

Discuss the material you want and whether matching an existing surface is important. A photograph can help describe the work, but measurement and condition determine the scope.

Inspect the floor and its edges

Review the installed area, transitions and baseboards together. Confirm the care instructions for the actual finish and any remaining items from the agreed work list before the room returns to normal use.

Frequently asked questions

Can you repair just a small area of floor or wall?

You can ask for a quote. Share photos of the damage and surrounding area, dimensions and any known material or paint colour. Whether a local repair makes sense depends on the surrounding condition and suitable replacement materials.

Is waxing suitable for every wood floor?

No. The material, finish and manufacturer care instructions need to be checked first. Mopping, polishing, waxing and replacement are different tasks, and one approach does not suit every floor.
